Growing with Gratitude & Giving Back
We are proud and extremely grateful to share that Furchild celebrated its 5th Anniversary.
As our Furchild team reflected on this milestone, we were looking for a creative way to celebrate the occasion and realised that we wanted to do more than simply have a party. Our team wanted to give back. 
Furchild has long been both a participant and host of community events supporting animal welfare in Dubai and UAQ, and for our 5-year anniversary, we wanted to support a new animal shelter, Animals & Us located in Fujairah, UAE.
So, on behalf of our Furchild team and Furchild community, without whom we wouldn’t have reached this significant date as a company, we supported AED 5000 worth of food towards feeding their hundreds of animals under their care.
Like so many animal shelters, Animals & Us' ability to help animals depends solely on support and help from volunteers.
Below we've included information about this safe haven for abandoned and abused animals, and how we as a collective community can assist further.
About Animal & Us
Animals & Us, a registered non-profit animal welfare was founded in 2006 and licensed by the government in September 2017.
The founder, Michelle Francis, is an animal lover and has been a rescuer for 15 years, she works as a full-time English teacher and doesn't receive any compensation for her work with the animals.
Animals & Us is currently home to more than 300 animals, and feed more than 600 animals that are still on the streets as well as a group of donkeys.
"There is no end to this work as this is a lifelong commitment but our joy comes from the fact that each of us does our part to help the animals. I have a full-time job and the feeding, rescuing and vet runs. I never go on holiday or visit my family. It has been over 10 years since I took a vacation." - Michelle.
Ways to Support
You can help sustain Animal & Us efforts by contributing towards:
- Facility and utilities (a rented warehouse in Fujairah Industrial area with water coolers, ACs, portacabins, etc.)
- Food (donations are also accepted)
- Veterinary expenses (most of the animals they rescue require immediate medical attention, and with support, they can provide medical attention at the right time.)
- TNR program (Trap-Neuter-Return) is the most humane and effective way to manage the stray population.
- 'Sponsor a Rescue' to give special care to their animals, including 'special-needs' and support the rest of their animal community until they find the right home.
Michelle also praises the wider community effort that regularly helps out, ranging from garage sales, book sales, sharing posts on social media fostering, and volunteering.
