It's easy to make and the aroma will delight the senses of your pet – even picky eaters and ones who are ailing!
As its name goes, Bone Broth is a nutrient-dense liquid (or stock) made from simmering raw bones at low temperatures over an extended period of time. The stock is jam-packed with amino acids, vitamins, and minerals including calcium, silicon, sulphur, magnesium, and phosphorus.
Note: Bone Broth itself is not nutritionally complete rather it's a healthy topper to add to a meal or serve as a treat.
Bone Broth provides many therapeutic health benefits. That said, here are 5 ways how bone broth benefits your pets and why you should consider offering it to your furchildren.
Here's how you can create nutritious healthy bone broth from the comfort of your home. All you need is...
We recommend adding our joint bones: our Turkey Necks, Chicken Necks and Duck Necks, along with our Lamb Bones and Beef Marrow Bones. You can also add other high-quality organic bones, but make sure the bones sourced are from antibiotic-free and hormone-free animals.
You can also use a pot on the stove, but the crock pot offers more convenience in the simplest way since you won’t have to worry about leaving it unattended.
And then, get creative! Add other healthy ingredients to the broth, like celery, carrots, parsley, and other dog-friendly vegetables. Again, we recommend using organic produce whenever possible. And make sure you DON'T add onions.
Step 1: Add enough Furchild bones to cover the bottom of the crockpot.
Step 2: Add filtered clean water enough to cover the bones by an inch or two.
Step 3: Add 2-3 tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar. This is important as it draws out the nutritious minerals of bones and ensures good amounts of healthy gelatin.
Step 4: Bring water to a boil; cover; then reduce heat to low (or simmer) for 24-48 hours.
Step 5: Strain the broth and dispose of the bones. And NEVER allow your dog to eat cooked bones!
Step 6: Let the broth cool; then place it in your refrigerator.
Step 7: Once chilled, scrape off the excess fat from the top and discard. What remains is your highly nutritious Bone Broth.
Once you have your bone broth ready, you can portion it into smaller containers. Try using ice cube trays for easy portioning, or make ‘pup-sicles’ as a cool treat in the summer. But if you're keeping the broth in your fridge, it must be used within 3-4 days.
So buy some high-quality Furchild bones and get cooking - your dog will reap the benefits of the nutrients and love your delicious homemade cooking.
Or if you're looking for the same bone broth benefits, without making the bone broth yourself, try our range of nutritious toppers which include four varieties of bone broth that are ready to serve!
