Bark Park – A Place to Run Free!

By Katherine Cebrowski on April 02, 2018
Bark Park – A Place to Run Free!

At last, there’s a huge space for our dogs to run free and it’s called BarkPark!

BarkPark is a fully enclosed outdoor dog park situated on privately owned farmland in Al Awir. This family-run operation is owned by animal lovers and pet parents, Jan Al Mheri and her husband. The facility is certified and approved by the Dubai Government.

More than a business, Jan wants to help responsible dog owners by creating a safe space for dogs – to be dogs. After one visit you’ll understand why BarkPark attracts like-minded pet parents and has a strong sense of community. We highly recommend you add Bark Park to your dog’s 2018 wish-list.

FAQ’s about BarkPark

How big is BarkPark?

BarkPark offers 3.5 acres that are clean, safe and fully enclosed for dog parents to socialize while dogs can exercise, socialize, train, play and enjoy being off lead.

How do you get there?

Just pop 'BarkPark Dubai’ into Google Maps. There is a paved road most of the way with the final 1.5 km being a track that does not require a 4WD.

What are Bark Park’s amenities?

BarkPark has something for everyone and every pup. There is plenty of space to run freely, there are cool down pools, drinking water, fun agility equipment, a shaded area and seats, and it is well lit at night. BarkPark has dedicated areas for smaller dogs (up to 10kg) and also for larger dogs.

BarkPark is equipped with washrooms and a retail shop that sells refreshments and an assortment of goodies for dogs. Jan has mentioned that they are working on building kennels and a cattery for pet boarding. We suspect there will be a few more new surprises in the future so make sure to follow them on Facebook.

When is BarkPark open?

BarkPark is open daily (except Mondays). The hours of operation are:

  • Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: 7.00am - 10.00am and 3.00pm - 8.00pm
  • Friday and Saturday: 7.00am - 7.00pm

What are the requirements for dogs?

In order to enter BarkPark, all dogs must have current vaccinations - Rabies and DHPPL (Kennel cough is not essential), be micro chipped and if from Dubai, registered with the Dubai Municipality.

Pet parents must bring their dog’s vaccination booklet and your personal Emirates ID, as these will be checked prior to entry.

For more information about Bark Park rules or as they refer to it, 'petiquette' (pet etiquette), by visiting their website and/or Facebook page.

Is it a drop-in dog park, or do pet pet parents require a membership?

Both options are possible.

As of January 2018 Bark Park offers the following memberships:

  • Annual membership: AED 1,800 for the first dog and AED 900 each for additional family dog(s)
  • 6 months membership: AED 1300 for the first dog and AED 650 each for additional family dog(s)
  • Monthly membership: AED 250 for the first dog and AED 125 each for additional family dog(s)

As of January 2018 Bark Park offers the following single session drop-in rates:

  • Weekday AED 30 for the first dog and AED 20 for each accompanying family dog with a maximum of three dogs per adult handler.
  • Weekend AED 65 for the first dog and AED 40 for each accompanying family dog with a maximum of three dogs per adult handler.

And if you need another reason to visit BarkPark, it’s unique location makes for a great reason to escape the hustle and bustle of the city to enjoy a morning, afternoon or evening outdoors with your dog.
