Green Tripe – The Ultimate Superfood for Pets

Green Tripe – The Ultimate Superfood for Pets

Green Tripe is known as the ultimate super food for dogs and cats for its endless list of health benefits. Breeders and pet lovers rave about the improvements in their pet’s health, appearance and disposition when eating tripe, and tripe enthusiasts jokingly say “green tripe can bring dead dogs back to life”. It may seem too good to be true, but the facts speak for themselves.

But before we get into all the benefits let’s mention the elephant in the room or in this case, the cow. The only real downside of tripe – if you can call it that, is the aroma.

The rumours of how bad green tripe smells are not an exaggeration, honestly it smells like a barn, but your furry family member will think it’s the most exciting thing you’ve ever put in their bowl! While some pet parents learn to hold their breath and others get accustomed to the scent, everyone loves it for the reason that it keeps our pets healthy and promotes longevity.

So what is Green Tripe?

Furchild’s Green Tripe is raw, unprocessed stomach lining of a cow. Grazing animals such as cow feed on grass that is broken down and stored in a cow’s unique four-chambered stomach. There it is mixed with digestive enzymes, gastric juices, amino acids and lots of other nutritious goodies that will make your dog’s and cat’s health thrive.

It is called “green” tripe not so much for its color, but for the fact that it has not been processed for human consumption.

Green Tripe is a part of a species appropriate diet. It is a supplemental food, low in fat, high in essential fatty acids (both linoleic and linolenic in their recommended proportions), a great source of potassium, vitamins, magnesium, probiotics and contains a calcium-page-tripe-california-cowsphosphorus ratio of 1:1, which is considered ideal for proper bone and joint development and sustainability.

At Furchild Pet Nutrition, we have sourced the very best quality tripe known to dog and man, flown in all the way from California, USA. Furchild’s Green Tripe is a mixture of organic and grass-raised cattle – nothing else compares!

The Benefits are Unparalleled

  • Contains large amounts of Lactobacillius acidophilus, the bacteria that is the main ingredient in probiotics.
  • Contains high levels of digestive enzymes (good bacteria) that aids in healthy digestion.
  • Boosts the immune system
  • Stimulates a pet’s appetite
  • Soothes GI (gastrointestinal) upset and infections
  • Great for pets with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome)
  • Cleans teeth and promotes oral hygiene
  • Great for pets with seasonal outdoor allergies
  • Skin problems improve
  • Coats shine
  • Eyes brighten
  • Muscles become toner
  • Firmer, smaller stools
  • Elderly pets resume with their active lifestyles

But don’t just take our word for it! Watch Mike Rowe, the host of a popular TV series, Dirty Jobs, get the inside scoop on Furchild’s supplier for Green Tripe.

Discovery Channel – Dirty Jobs – Fun with Tripe

“Green tripe has many health benefits. It helps with digestion. Its rubbery texture strengthens the jaw muscles and it’s basically canine dental floss.”

The IVC Journal says about green tripe…

“Tripe has always been a very important component of the carnivore’s diet. Though most humans regard it as unusual, raw green tripe is a natural and beneficial food.”

Dogs Naturally Magazine rates green tripe #1 as the 5 food you should feed your dog regardless if your pet eats kibble, canned, or raw…

“Green tripe is truly a superfood that no dog should be without!”

Do Humans Eat Tripe?

Yes of course, and we have been doing it for thousands of years. See how world renowned chef Gordon Ramsey is helping modern generations enjoy the benefits and taste of processed tripe across England.

Gordon Ramsay goes to see a tripe dresser to see how tripe is prepared in the traditional way.
Next Gordon cooks a tripe recipe to see if the public like the taste.

How to Feed Tripe to your Dog or Cat

Green tripe is really easy to feed because even finicky eaters love the taste. We recommend our Green Tripe to be fed as a replacement meal once a week, or added to your pet’s meals a few days a week using Furchild’s Non-Skid, Stainless Steel Pet Bowls or Cat Dishes.

Tips to control odor:

  • We recommend keeping the tripe frozen until the last minute, then thawing it just enough to remove the desired amount and returning the package to the freezer and storing it in an air-tight container.
  • If you have a fenced backyard, porch, or balcony, have your pet eat outdoors while you breathe comfortably indoors.

Trends in Tripe – Be Warned, Quality Differs

Furchild ensures our Tripe is sourced from reputable farms and is the highest quality on the market, however there are variations that range from okay to bad. Here is an overview of the variances in quality and what to avoid.

  • Bad – White Tripe sold in supermarkets – don’t feed it to your beloved pets. This tripe has been cleaned, steamed and chemically bleached. All the goodness found in Green Tripe is removed and in this state it’s harder to digest and contains very little nutrition in comparison to unprocessed tripe.
  • Okay – Canned Tripe is not nearly as beneficial as raw. The good enzymes, beneficial bacteria and other fragile nutrients are destroyed in the cooking process due to the high temperatures endured during the canning process.
  • Good Bad – Local abattoirs – Depending on the quality ruminant found nearby, the nutritional properties can vary – a lot! In the UAE, animals raised for human consumption don’t graze on open fields of grass like they do in other counties. Instead these animals are raised on animal feed (not fresh grass). As a result, the content found in their stomachs is much different than those of a grass-fed animal.
  • Better – Treats – Frozen, ground green tripe, or freeze-dried tripe treats that can be from any source, not pasture-fed (grass-fed) animals.
  • Best / Amazing / Jammed Packed with Goodness / Best thing you can do for your Pet – Frozen ground or cut green tripe all from grass-fed and organic grass-fed animals.

Pet parents in the UAE can now rejoice! Now your dog and cat are among the lucky few who can eat fresh, grass-raised Green Tripe whenever their hearts’ desire. This ultimate super food that was once hard to come by, is now readily available in the UAE! It can be added to your pet’s Monthly Meal Plan and will be conveniently delivered to your home.
